Community Health

Community health is part of the genesis of the SFE. Since our organisation was founded in 1998, we have worked closely with local health organisations, Laotian health professionals and the government to provide medical care where our expertise is most relevant to the local population. This coordination aims to optimise the use of human and material resources, and to ensure an effective response to the problems identified on the ground.

While the SFE’s medical projects began with medical care and interventions, medical cooperation covers many areas of health:

  • Training healthcare professionals and strengthening skills of local healthcare professionals to enable a more autonomous and sustainable medical response.

  • Access to healthcare to ensure adequate and equitable access to healthcare for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable populations, whatever their origin or situation.

  • Needs assessment and monitoring in cooperation with government bodies, needs assessments to determine healthcare priorities, adjusting responses as the situation evolves.
